Welcome back to Cairo. Today was the day that everyone was waiting for. It’s the day that we would visit the Great Pyramid of Giza, the 7 wonders of the world in ancient times. The weather was nice with clear sky. We stop at the Mena House Oberoi hotel where is the most expensive hotel in Cairo due to the location and the fact that it was the old castle. My husband and I were very excited. It’s the climax of the trip !!! The first pyramid was built for Pharaoh Khufu 2579 years BC. It’s 147 meter high. It’s huge (but we expected it to be much more) The second (Pyramid Khafra) and third (Pyramid Menkaure) were located nearby. I was amazed by the fact that they built the pyramid about 5,000 years ago when there were no modern technologies to help them.

Camel ride at Giza. After enjoying the walk around the pyramid and taking pictures, we went to the higher hill with panorama view of the 3 pyramids and took a camel ride. It cost around 10 xxx. Camels were well taking care of. They were cute. We rode on one camel. It felt like rollercoaster when it got up and down. You have to be really careful to hold the seating tight.

After Giza, we went to Memphis where we saw the huge Ramese II statue and Sukkara, the first stepped pyramid. Well, it’s much less exciting to see Memphis and Sukkara after you’ve been to Giza though.
